I was lucky enough to be the photographer at a lovely wedding which was held at the beautiful Pheasant Hotel, Harome, York.
The wedding itself was fab and Sarah and Peter are a great couple. I will be posting more pics of them soon, but these images are all about the venue.
Photography at Bedern Hall in York is fantastic - I love the old medieval building, a hidden gem in York!
Sharon and Nick's wedding was fab! Ceremony and reception were both at Bedern Hall. It is such a beautiful venue, very church like, without being a church! The interior is stunning.
Photography at The Merchant Adventurer's Hall is amazing - one of my favourite venues for weddings in York!
Sarah and Sean's day was perfect. I started with bridal preps at The Mount Royal Hotel, and the room was lovely, with a fantastic big window.
Photography at Aldwark Manor is amazing! I love this venue! Sarah and Ross's day was perfect.
I started up in the room getting bridal preparations. The Dales Suites are just amazing! While bridal prep shots are very candid, when I am working at Aldwark Manor I always like to pose a few up of the bride in the room as I love the windows and the staircase so much!
Emma and Dan's wedding was amazing! The Pavilion Hotel in York is one of the venues I work at the most, and I love it. It is perfect for larger weddings, like Emma and Dan's, as well as smaller weddings.
Emma and Dan had their ceremony and reception at The Pavilion, so I went along early to cover bridal preps up in the room. Emma's dress was gorgeous and she looked beautiful. She had 2 flowers girls and 2 pageboys who were so cute and very well behaved!
As much as I love wedding photography I also do a lot of interior photography for b and b's, pubs, restaurants and hotels. This type of work is fab, and very rewarding!
I realised there was a need for this type of work a while ago, when I researched various websites in the area. Many sites looked great and the photography was spot on, however, some sites I looked at were let down by poor images. I think many businesses perhaps try and save the cost of a professional photographer and do the photos themselves. However, this is not a good idea! With businesses such as guest houses, b and b's pubs etc, professional images to showcase the establishment are imperative. Great pics will make a huge difference to any website.
I was really excited about Rachel and Pete's big day! Although I love wedding photography in York, and there are so many beautiful venues, I was looking forward to working at a new venue. and Bolton School did not disappoint!
I started off doing bridal preps and then on to Walmsley Church. The church is beautiful and situated at the top of a big hill. Pete and the lads looked very smart and Rachel looked gorgeous! After the ceremony we did most of the group shots in the church doorway. This is perfect as it means once guests arrive at the reception venue they are not bothered by loads more photos, they can just enjoy the day.
When booking the photographer for your wedding it is imperative you get it right. Your photographer is someone who will be with you for a long time on your big day, and the photos are one of the few things you will keep after the wedding. There are so many photographers out there, where do you start?
I have put together a few tips that may help you when you start looking ...
- Personal recommendation if possible. Do you know anyone who has recently got married? Who was their photographer and were they happy? If someone you know can recommend a photographer personally that is a good start. Do you know anyone in the industry?
- Look at different photographer’s websites to compare styles and packages. Are they more traditional or contemporary in the way they work? Not all will have their prices on their website, so contact 5 or 6 to get an idea of cost. Read More
Philippa and Denn's wedding day was fab! They are a really relaxed couple and a pleasure to work with. The day itself was fine, although a little cold - only to be expected in February!
St George's Church is a gorgeous church in York - especially beautiful from the inside. After the ceremony, we did some group shots in the doorway then it was on to Middleton's Hotel (formerly Lady Anne Middletons). The hotel is great - some really quirky spots for photos!
Emily and John's wedding day was amazing! I was working at two venues I have never worked at before, both fab! St Martin's Church, Chapel Allerton, and The Engine Shed, Wetherby. Although I am based in York, I am more than happy to travel, and wedding photography in Wetherby is great!
Emily looked amazing, and I was pleased she asked me to cover bridal preperations. Luckily the weather was fine, although cold with it being February. After the ceremony we did all the gorup shots at the church, as the light was fading. By the time we got back to The Engine Shed, we just had a few minutes to get some lovely shots of Emily and John before it started getting dark.
I love being a wedding photographer in York! There are so many beautiful venues, and I am so lucky to be able to do wedding photography at St William's College as I love the venue.
Alexandra and Jonathan are a fab couple. They had already been married in California, and this was their "second wedding celebration"! It was a fab day, and Alexandra looked beautiful. Jonathan also looked amazing in his kilt! We did the group shots at St William's College and then went to the gardens by the Minster for bride and groom shots.
I have to say this was one of my favourite weddings! I covered bridal preps to the first dance, which I like, and not only are Meg and Tom a lovely couple, their venues were amazing!
Wedding photography Beverley.... I started at Meg's parents house, doing the photography in Beverley. They had an awesome PapaKata set up in the back garden, and photography of Papakatas is such fun! It was set up in a vintage style with a real country feel, which I love. After bridal preps, in was on to photography at St Mary's Church, Beverley. Tom and the guys looked very smart, and I met them in the pub first! St Mary's Church in Beverley is a very impressive church, almost a Minster. So I couldn't help get some great shots during the ceremony and then outside afterwards.
As a York wedding photographer I am spoilt for choice with the venues I work at, however, having studied photography in Harrogate, the city is almost as close to my heart as York. I have worked at the beautiful Rudding Park in Harrogate many times before, doing society events, but I had never done a wedding and always wanted to.
Weddings at Rudding Park are amazing events as the venue is stunning. Imagine my delight when I was recommended by a lovely couple, to another lovely couple, who were getting married at Rudding! Amy and Tim are great and we immediately got on well. I was so pleased they chose me to be their photographer, and I met them at the venue so we could look round before the big day and I could view it through a wedding photographers eye! There are so many possibilities for wedding photography at Rudding Park that I needed to prioritize the shots.
I am so lucky to be a photographer in York. There are so many beautiful venues to work at! I have worked at The Pavilion Hotel in York many times before and love the relaxed and personal feel to it.
I was chuffed to bits when Tina and Andy asked me to be their photographer. Andy is one of my younger brothers! I was determined to do as professional a job as I would for anyone else, but I also wanted to enjoy the day as a guest.
A beautiful winter wedding!
I was so pleased to be asked to be Katy and Rich's wedding photographer in York last December, as they are a great couple and very down to earth. I have been a wedding photographer at Aldwark Manor many times before and love the venue. Aldwark Church is equally lovely and it was great getting the bridal shots of Katy at the hotel first, then on to the church for photos of the lads.
Julie and Paul's day was amazing! A great couple and Julie's dress was just beautiful - got some awesome floaty shots! I love The Crab and Lobster as a venue - so quirky and different. The venue, combined with the dress and flowers, and the other attention to details, made this a unique day - very individual and fab, perfect for Julie and Paul!
Emma and Clive's day was lovely - a nice fine and bright day amongst many wet ones this summer! Haxby is a place very close to my heart having grown up there, as is the Merchant Taylors Hall, with my mum and dad having married there ...
So, a fab day - great and personal venues, and a brilliant couple to work with and lovely family. The MT Hall is typical York with the old beams, which I love, especially in b/w. Emma and Clive arrived in Emma's old car which had been done up and it made some fab shots! We called off on route to the reception to Emma's parents house to get some shots with the dogs!
Becky and Will's day was fabulous! I was really looking forward to working at two new venues, and they did not disappoint. The weather was a little too rainy, but although we had to do the group shots inside, Becky, Will and I were able to get out later for some beautiful bride and groom shots.
Will and the guys looked great in top hats, and Becky was alsolutely stunning. The reception venue was amazing, and had been kindly lent for the occassion by the owners who know Will. A brilliant day, and a lovely couple!
I have done two weddings at The Parsonage, Escrick, lately and they have both been fabulous! I am so lucky to work with such lovely people at such great venues! Sarah and Gareth's day was perfect, and even the rain did not spoil anything!
Group shots had to be done in the conservatory instead of outside, but it is a lovely room, and luckily we were able to go outside for more bride and groom shots after the meal. A great couple and the best "hen party" dance I have ever seen!
