Tina and Andy, Haxby Church and York Pavilion Hotel
I am so lucky to be a photographer in York. There are so many beautiful venues to work at! I have worked at The Pavilion Hotel in York many times before and love the relaxed and personal feel to it.
I was chuffed to bits when Tina and Andy asked me to be their photographer. Andy is one of my younger brothers! I was determined to do as professional a job as I would for anyone else, but I also wanted to enjoy the day as a guest.
Tina did not want any bridal preps shots doing, so I met Andy and the lads at Haxby Methodist Church. It was strange seeing my brother as a groom, as well as my other brother Matt and my partner Russ as ushers! All the lads looked very smart. Of course I knew nearly everyone there, which was really nice! I always work in a relaxed and down to earth manor, whether I know the guests or not, but this was lovely. Tina arrived and looked gorgeous!
The ceremony itself was perfect, and Haxby Church has a great balcony for some shots looking down. Afterwards I took Tina and Andy to Haxby duck pond, which does not sound like the ideal place for wedding photos, but it is lovely, with a gorgeous willow tree.
The 3 of us then went on to The Museum Gardens for photos, while the guests made their way to The Pavilion in York. I love the Museum Gardens and always suggest to couples, if it is possible, to get some shots there. The ruins and stone work are just amazing….. Especially at this time of year – October. Beautiful colours on the tress.
On to The Pavilion! It is a great venue for getting a full group shot of everyone – either from the balcony at the front for a large group, or from the fire escape at the back for a smaller group such as this. Other group shots were done in the Courtyard, which is also lovely. Then I look Tina and Andy for more photos outside, and then inside to the amazing back staircase. This makes a great backdrop for some amazing photos reflected in the big mirror.
Unlike at a usual wedding I was able to sit down with the guests for the meal, and have a glass of bubbly!
Photos carried on informally in the evening, although they were mixed with catching up with family and looking after Mia, my 4 year old!
From a photographer’s point of view, and a guest’s point of view, it was a great wedding! Nice weather, 2 lovely venues, and an awesome couple! Congratulations Tina and Andy. Sis-in-law and bro!
